2009 Danny's Story
Ps.
Marshall Geswint
Dear family of God
Let me introduce you to a young man by the name of Danny. He is eighteen
years old and he became part of our church about a year ago. Danny lives
with his grandma for the last year or so after his other grandma passed
away about a year ago.
The
story goes like this... Danny lost his mom when he was about thirteen
years of age after she committed suicide just ten days before his
birthday. The other sad part of the whole thing is that Danny was
separated from is dad when he was just a small boy, because he walked
out on them and over the years he never connected with his father who
also lives in another city about seven hours drive away from Humansdorp.
The absence of a father figure in Danny’s life was now becoming more
evident as we as a church started pursuing Danny through the love of
God. He told us time after time that he wish things were totally
different for him. One weekend my wife and I had him over at our home
just to build relationship with him and that weekend we really connected
with him deeply. Our youth became a powerful tool over time as they
loved on Danny through all support and caring he possibly needed. Every
time Danny would start dancing in our services God started moving
through him and the rest of our young people found so much pleasure just
by watching him do his thing for the Lord.
As most of you might know by now that we were on a
youth camp last
month where we were praying a lot for Danny and the restoration of his
life especially the healing of a father wound. I remember very clearly
about this specific moment when we prayed for Danny and I asked Pastor
Leon to stand next to him as if it was his own dad standing there.
Almost ever one in the crowd started crying as ministry started flowing
towards Danny. Just before we left camp the Lord laid it on my heart to
ask different ones to pray in the homes of these different young people
and they started doing that the following week. One night Ashwell and
his wife Nicolette (Gatekeepers in our church) took a few youth to go
pray at Danny’s home. Again they prayed about the restoration of
fathering in Danny’s life and God was present as always.
Guess what folks, a few days later Danny’s dad called from Cape Town
early in the morning. Here are the direct words of Danny, “I did not
know what to do or say to him. As I hold the phone in my hand I could
feel my hand started shaking and at one moment the phone almost fell out
of my hands. I could not even remember everything he said, but what I
can remember clearly was him saying ... “I still love you son”. Yes
folks Danny were completely out of balance when he heard his dad’s voice
for the first time after many years. He then told me that his dad told
him that he wants to reconnect with him again. Danny ran into the house
straight to his room and fell flat on his face before God in amazement
of what God has done. Malachi 4v6 says... He will turn the hearts of
the fathers to the children and the hearts the children to the fathers...
Folks know that God still answers prayer and He wants us to come after
Him with passion and a deep hunger. God enjoys it so much each time we
call upon His name. Let us give Him what He desires (our hearts) and He
will give us what we need. God breathe in worship and He breathes out
revelation about Himself and as we partake of the revelation we are
changed and emerged into His eternal peace. Never give up on God’s
promises, but continue to believe what He says He can do.
